    Meet Doctor Matthew Tompkins

Doctor Matt is a native of Central Oregon. He grew up in Tumalo and went to Redmond High School where he participated in soccer, wrestling, and track receiving All-State recognition in all three sports. With his passion being soccer, he worked hard to have the opportunity to play in college. Along with soccer (and athletics in general), he has always had a dream of working in health care. This was a driving force in his academic goals and in making the decision to major in pre-medicine after graduating.

“I remember being in my careers class as a freshman in high school and was planning on studying to be a healthcare professional with a focus in sports medicine.”

Doctor Matt received a scholarship to play division 1 soccer at the University of Philadelphia where he graduated with a BS in pre-medical studies. Academically he was named a member of the NSCAA 2nd Team Academic All-American. Athletically, he also achieved NSCAA 2nd Team Regional All-American recognition and continued to pursue his dream of playing soccer for a living. He had the opportunity to play  semi-professionally in Atlantic City, New Jersey and Bamberg, Germany  before he decided to hang up his cleats and continue to pursue his career in medicine.

“I chose Chiropractic Medicine as a career because I wanted to be a health care professional that had the freedom to developed relationships with patients to help them improve their health through manual therapy and nutritional support.”

Doctor Matt went to the University of Western States, excited to be entering the final chapter of his education. During his tenure at school, he met his beautiful wife Emily, who also grew up here in Central Oregon and went to Redmond High School. She has been his rock and endless support through school and the starting of his practice.

“As excited as I was to leave Central Oregon after high school, I knew I would be coming back to start my career and give back to the community that has given me so much over the years.”

Doctor Matt graduated from with his Doctor of Chiropractic and achieved his dream of opening a practice in Central Oregon. The doors of Tompkins Chiropractic opened in September of 2013 in Bend, and he is excited to be bringing family-oriented chiropractic care and nutritional support to his local community.
